The Polar Bear Run is an annual event held on New Year’s Day. The event is sponsored by the Trinity Road Riders and is open to the general public and to all motorcyclists. 2019 will mark the 35th running of the Polar Bear Run.

The Polar Bear Run is a self-guided ride for individual riders or groups. The ride begins at Cycle Gear in SE Portland and ends at Jimmy O’s Pizzeria in Oregon City. Each year, the road captains of Trinity Road Riders design unique ride routes. You can choose to ride 1 of 3 rides.

Papa Bear

Our signature route is approximately 90 miles. Recommended when the weather is good and you are dressed for the cold.

Mama Bear

This route is like the Papa Bear run, but about 60 miles long. It’s popular with those wanting a shorter ride so they can go watch football.

If the weather is poor, you may choose this ride. This route is the shortest possible distance to the pizza joint.

Cycle Gear

8930 SE Stark Street

Portland, Oregon  97216

Sign-in and on-site registration is open from 10am until noon. You can begin your ride at any time.

If you are an individual rider, and would like to ride with a group, we’ll do our best to set you up with one.

Come celebrate the new year with hundreds of motorcyclists from the northwest by participating in the first motorcycle event of the year.

Some of the proceeds of the Polar Bear Run are given to Missionary Ventures. This international organization partners with the Christian Motorcycle Association to purchase motorcycles for pastors in foreign counties (such as Nicaragua, Guatemala, etc.) all over the world.

Again this year, there will be a grand prize drawing for a 2-night stay at Siletz Bay Lodge in Lincoln City. The winner will be chosen and announced at Jimmy O’s at the ride’s end.

Everyone is encouraged to enjoy fellowship among fellow riders at Cycle Gear. This is a chance to share tales of the road with friends not seen since the cold weather has set in. There will be complimentary donuts, coffee, and chili for you (provided by CMA and Cycle Gear or Portland).

Bike blessings are available upon request!

After finishing the ride, warm up at Jimmy O’s Pizzeria and enjoy some great pizza. There you can spin the prize wheel for an assortment of door prizes.

Polar Bear Run T-Shirts are also a very popular item at the event. Each year, shirts are available for sale with the current year’s artwork. A limited number of T-Shirts are available at the event and specialty shirts can be ordered prior to the ride.

More information on items available can be found on the Registration page.
