The Polar Bear Run is an annual event held on New Year’s Day. The event is sponsored by the Trinity Road Riders and is open to the general public and to all motorcyclists. 2021 will mark the 37th running of the Polar Bear Run.

The Polar Bear Run is a self-guided ride for individual riders or groups. The ride begins at Gary’s Auto Repair in SE Portland and ends at Jimmy O’s Pizzeria in Oregon City. Each year, the road captains of Trinity Road Riders design unique ride routes. Three rides to choose from.

Papa Bear

Our signature route is approximately 90 miles. Recommended when the weather is good and you are dressed for the cold.

Mama Bear

This route is like the Papa Bear run, but about 60 miles long. It’s popular with those wanting a shorter ride so they can go watch football.

If the weather is poor, you may choose this ride. This route is the shortest possible distance to the pizza joint.

Gary’s Auto Repair

91st and SE Stark Street

Portland, Oregon  97216

Just one block from Cycle Gear!

Sign-in is open from 10am until noon. Pre-registration is required! You can begin the ride of your choice at any time.

If you are an individual rider, and would like to ride with a group, we’ll do our best to set you up with one.

Come celebrate the new year with hundreds of motorcyclists from the northwest by participating in the first motorcycle event of the year.

Some of the proceeds of the Polar Bear Run are given to Missionary Ventures. This international organization partners with the Christian Motorcycle Association to purchase motorcycles for pastors in foreign counties (such as Nicaragua, Guatemala, etc.) all over the world.

Again this year, there will be a grand prize drawing for a 2-night stay at Siletz Bay Lodge in Lincoln City. The winner will be chosen and announced at Jimmy O’s at the ride’s end.

Everyone is encouraged to enjoy fellowship among fellow riders at Cycle Gear, observing Covid-19 protocols. This is a chance to share tales of the road with friends not seen since the cold weather has set in. There will be complimentary donuts and coffee for you (provided by CMA and Cycle Gear of Portland).

Bike blessings are available upon request!

After finishing the ride, warm up at Jimmy O’s Pizzeria and get caught up with riding friends. There you can enjoy some great pizza or hot sandwiches. Please be aware that there will be limited seating at the restaurant this year.
